Wednesday's Prep Softball: Sixth Inning Propels Toutle Lake Past Toledo

Toutle Lake scored eight runs in the sixth inning to break up a tie game and held on in the seventh for a 12-7 win over Toledo in a District 4 2B softball tournament quarterfinal game at Borst Park in Centralia on Wednesday.

Toledo’s Haleigh Holmes was 2-for-3 with a walk, two home runs and four RBI. Kyleigh Holmes was 3-for-4 with two runs and Payson Hoiseck was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

Toutle Lake plated four runs in the second inning to gain the lead. Toledo scored two runs in the third and fifth innings to tie the game at four. The Ducks were able to pile on eight runs in the sixth to retake the lead. Toledo scored three runs in the seventh, including a home run by Haleigh Holmes, but it wasn’t enough as the Ducks held on for the victory.

Toledo will take on Morton-White Pass on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Borst Park in a loser out, winner to state game. Toutle Lake will face Pe Ell-Willapa Valley in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Titans Topple T-Wolves

Kamryn Adkins pitched a complete game to lead Pe Ell-Willapa Valley to a 12-2 win in five innings against Morton-White Pass in a District 4 2B softball tournament quarterfinal game at Borst Park in Centralia on Wednesday.

Adkins allowed three hits and struck out eight batters in the win. She also added a hit, two runs and two RBI.

Katelyn McGough had a double, three runs, a walk and a hit by pitch and Katie Adkins was 2-for-2 with three runs and a walk. Britney Patrick was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs and Olivia Matlock was 2-for-3 with a walk, three RBI and a triple.

Hannah Smathers recorded a hit and a run and Taylor Hazen hit a two-run home run in the third inning for the T-Wolves.

The Titans scored four runs in the first and third innings and plated three runs in the second inning for an 11-2 lead after three innings. PWV added one run in the fifth to end the game early.

MWP faces Toledo on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Borst Park in a loser out, winner to state game. The Titans play Toutle Lake on Thursday in the semifinals.

Pirates Fend Off Cardinals

Adna scored at least one run in each inning to earn a 14-1 win over Winlock in five innings in a District 4 2B softball tournament quarterfinal game at Borst Park in Centralia on Wednesday.

Haley Rainey started in the circle for Adna and pitched three innings, allowing five hits and one earned run with seven strikeouts. Karlee VonMoos pitched the final two innings, allowing no runs, two hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

Rainey also got it done at the plate, hitting a home run, scoring a run and knocking in four runs. Skye Snow also hit a home run and Payton Aselton was 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs and a RBI. Olivia Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI and Emily Sliva hit a double and scored a run.



Winlock’s Raychel Squibb was 3-for-3 and Karlie Jones was 2-for-3 with a run. Jenna Jones had a hit and a RBI and Cheleena Squibb also added a hit for the Cardinals.

Adna and Winlock each scored a run in the first, but the Pirates plated two runs in the second, eight runs in the third and three runs in the fourth to complete the victory.

Adna will take on Onalaska on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Borst Park in the semifinals. Winlock will face Ocosta at 6 p.m. on Thursday in a loser out, winner to state game.

Loggers Roll Past Wildcats

Onalaska scored seven runs in the first two innings to earn an 11-5 win over Ocosta in a District 4 2B softball tournament quarterfinal game at Borst Park in Centralia on Wednesday.

The Loggers collected 13 hits in the game, including Amy Henderson going 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI and Olivia Mitten was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs and three RBI.

Hannah James was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and a RBI and Chaise Cadwell was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Callie Lawrence was 2-for-4 with a run.

Onalaska led 7-1 after two innings. The Loggers plated two runs in the fourth and fifth innings for an 11-2 lead after five innings. Ocosta tried to mount a late comeback with three runs in the seventh but it wasn’t enough.

The Loggers will face Adna in the semifinals on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Borst Park.

1A Softball

Bulldogs Blank Beavers

Montesano didn’t allow Tenino to put the bat on the ball too many times as the Bulldogs no hit the Beavers en route to a 10-0 win in six innings in a District 4 1A softball tournament quarterfinal game at Borst Park in Centralia on Wednesday.

Emily Baxter pitched a complete game for the Beavers, striking out three batters.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the third inning with four runs and added two more runs in the fourth. Montesano tallied four runs in the sixth to end the game.

Tenino moved into the consolation side of the bracket to take on Hoquiam in a loser out game, but the game was delayed to Thursday at 4 p.m. due to rain in the second inning.
