Wednesday's Prep Cross Country: Centralia Wins EvCo Dual Meet With Rochester

Rochester’s Levi Jennings won the boys race but it was Centralia that captured the team title in an Evergreen 2A Conference cross country meet here on Wednesday.

Jennings completed the race in 17 minutes, 57 seconds. Centralia’s Cameron Moore finished second in 18:20 and Morton-White Pass’ Alex Brown finished third in 18:24.

MWP’s Matt Cooper finished fourth in 18:50 and Centralia’s Devin Harrison placed fifth with a time of 19:01.10, just barely ahead of teammate Ben Corwin in sixth place with a time of 19:01.

Mossyrock’s Christain Paz Tapia took 11th in 19:24.

In girls action, MWP’s Olyvia Brownell won the race in 22:24.05, narrowly edging teammate Alissa Hughes in second in 22:24.35. Ayricka Hughes placed third in 22:58 for the Timberwolves.

Centralia’s Jade Hudson finished fourth in 25:29 and Jamie Hernandez placed seventh in 27:15. There were no Rochester girls in the race.

Centralia travels to the Bill Kehoe South Sound Invite on Saturday in Lacey while Rochester is back in action next Wednesday, hosting Black Hills in an EvCo race.



W.F. West’s Xylia Warner Wins at EvCo Meet

TUMWATER — W.F. West’s Xylia Warner won in the girls race and the boys earned the team title against Black Hills in an Evergreen 2A Conference cross country meet here on Wednesday.

Warner completed the race in 22 minutes, 37 seconds, and teammate Elaina Koenig finished second in 22:52. Iris Van der ploeg took sixth place in 24:25 and Annika Waring placed ninth in 24:49. Kyla Johnston finished 12th in 24:57 and Olivia Calderon earned 14th in 25:30.

The W.F. West girls won the EvCo portion of the match, although Capital took the overall team title.

In boys action, W.F. West’s Francisco Lima (17:48) took second, William Taylor (17:54) finished third, Myles Johnston (18:06) earned fourth and Henry Jordan (18:44) placed fifth.

Zachary Wood (19:35) took seventh, Jayden Carroll (19:38) earned eighth and Jaysen Miles (19:43) took ninth for the Bearcats.

W.F. West hosts Aberdeen next Wednesday in an EvCo match.
