Wednesday's Prep Boys Golf: Black Hills Too Much for Warriors

Posted

Rochester boys golf fell to Black Hills here at Riverside Golf Course in 2A Evergreen Conference play on Wednesday by a score of 222-273.

The lopsided win for the visitors was powered by an even par score of 36 from Tyler Cassell and a twin set of scorecards from Jackson Fenner and Carson Hughes who each turned in a 41.

Rochester’s best round was turned in by their number three golfer, Logan Fry, who shot a 47. The Warrior’s number one, Marcus Ashton shot a 51 and their number two, Marcus Corentto, shot a 58. Rounding out the Rochester scoring was Gabe Masias with a 57 and Eli Spitzer with a 60.

The T-Wolves final two scores belonged to Mason Lunsford and Tyler Gill, who turned in scores of 51 and 53, respectively.

“We’re a very young team with a lot of kids who just began playing a couple of months ago so we kind of looked at this like a good learning experience versus a team that has quite a bit more experience than we do,” said Rochester coach Eric Holmkvist, who came away impressed by Black Hills’ golfers. “It’s definitely the lowest score that we’ve seen put up against us this year, so I think they certainly have a good shot at winning a league title.”

Rochester (0-5) will host Centralia on Monday.
