Wednesday's Girls Bowling: W.F. West Dominates Rochester

The Bearcats left no doubt about their area supremacy here Wednesday evening as they dispatched Rochester 18-1 in 2A Evergreen Conference girls bowling action at Fairway Lanes.

The Bearcats dominated the total pin count with 2022 pins to 1472 and lost only one match on the night. W.F. West took the first game 5-1, with Leslie Erwin rolling a 215 for the Bearcats. Meanwhile Rochester’s Sarah Soderback turned in her first ever 200 game with a score of 205 to earn the Warriors only point.

W.F. West claimed all six points in the second game with Kelsey Stritmatter turning in a team-best score of 180. Brianna Powe and Jessica Loflin each added scores of 169 in the team win.

“We have been working hard at scoring over 1900 total pins in our matches. The girls have really embraced that team mindset at practice and we were happy to see their hard work pay off,” said W.F. West coach Donnie Bunker.

Bunker noted that Wednesday marked his team’s first time earning at least 2000 pins on the season.



In the first Baker game the Bearcats edged Rochester 155-153. In the second Baker game W.F. West cruised toa 179-114 victory.

Aside from Soderback’s high score, Amerika Jones turned in scores of 103 and 123 while Thaila Phothisat notched scores of 108 and 123.

“It is fun to watch Rochester improve throughout the season. They are doing an excellent job learning how to compete,” said Bunker.

W.F. West (7-1, 5-1 conference) will face Rochester (2-6, 2-3 conference) again on Jan. 7 at Fairway Lanes.
