Wednesday's Cross Country: W.F. West Takes Second at EvCo Meet in Rochester

ROCHESTER — The W.F. West boys and girls each finished second at an Evergreen 2A Conference cross country meet with Rochester and Tumwater here on Wednesday.

In boys action, Rochester’s Levi Jennings finished third with a time of 16 minutes, 57 seconds. W.F. West’s Levi Taylor earned fourth with a time of 17:04. Teammate Myles Johnston finished seventh with a time of 17:33, Henry Jordan earned ninth in 18:15 and Francisco Lima finished 10th.

W.F. West’s Jayden Carroll finished 12th in 18:42 and Zachary Wood earned 14th in 18:44. Andrew Scheer finished 17th in 19:53 and Jaysen Miles took 19th place in 20:01.85. Rochester’s Jaegan Reese earned 16th place in 19:46 and Hunter Morgan placed 18th in 20.01.63.

Tumwater won the team title and Josh Newman won the race with a time of 16:43.

In girls action, W.F. West’s Xylia Warner finished second in 22:19 and teammate Elaina Koenig finished right behind her in third place with a time of 22:27. Iris Van der ploeg placed ninth for the Bearcats with a time of 22:18.

The Bearcats also had Riley Johnston (24:29) finish 11th, Olivia Calderon (25:18) finish 12th, Annika Waring (26:08) placing 13th, Cadence Edminster (27:56) earning 14th, Addison Alexander (27:56) placing 15th, Mabel Imboden (30:51) placing 16th and Manuela Buy (31:22) taking 17th. Rochester had no girls compete in the race.

Tumwater won the team title and Olivia Bailon won the race in 20:28.

W.F. West is back in action on Saturday at the John Payne/Curtis Invitational on Saturday in University Place. Rochester will head south on Saturday to compete in the Toutle Lake Invitational.



Centralia Boys Finish Second at EvCo Meet in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN — Centralia’s Cameron Moore finished fourth at an Evergreen 2A Conference cross country meet with Aberdeen and Black Hills here on Wednesday to help lead the Tiger boys to a second place team finish.

Moore, a senior, finished the race in 18 minutes, 22 seconds. Teammate Devin Harrison placed seventh with a time of 19:19. Elias Stehr placed ninth with a time of 19:22 and Ben Corwin earned 10th place with a time of 19:33. Saigon Silva finished right behind Corwin in 11th place with a time of 19:34.

Centralia’s Jaycob White was able to earn a Top 20 finish, placing 17th with a time of 20:40.

Aberdeen won the team title with 34 points. Black Hills’ Truman Affeldt won the boys race in 17:39.

There were only 13 girls racing here on Wednesday, with Centralia’s Brynna Rooklidge placing second with a time of 22:36. Aberdeen’s Katharina Kempe won the race in 22:13.

Jade Hudson finished eighth for the Tigers in 25:27 and Jamie Hernandez rounded out Centralia with a 12th place finish in 28:22.

Centralia is back in action next Wednesday, hosting an EvCo dual meet with Rochester at Borst Park.
