Wednesday's College Sports: Tacoma Rolls Past Centralia

TACOMA — Tacoma scored seven goals in the first half en route to a 10-0 win over Centralia in an NWAC West Region women’s soccer game here on Wednesday.

Amanda Rickey and Alexis Newson each scored two goals for the Titans. Aubrey Smith, Eva Brach, Julian Johnson, Marissa Covarrubias and Mackenzie Rivera each scored a goal for Tacoma.

Centralia (3-13-1, 2-9) hits the road to face Pierce on Saturday at Noon in Lakewood.

Volleyball

Lower Columbia Edges Centralia

LONGVIEW — Centralia and Lower Columbia battled for five sets here on Wednesday, with the Red Devils earning a 3-2 win in an NWAC West Region volleyball match.



Lower Columbia won set one with a score of 25-13. Centralia rebounded and won the next two sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-20 to take a 2-1 lead. The Red Devils evened the match with a 25-19 fourth set win. Lower Columbia was able to keep the momentum going into the fifth set with a 15-8 win.

Centralia’s Autumn Durand recorded 16 kills and 12 digs. Kary Sathre added 13 kills and Tianna Hanohano tallied 10 kills and 11 digs.

Stephanie Fried led the Lady Blazers with 17 digs and Macey Martin added 12 digs. Peyton Timmons had 39 assists and nine digs.

Mossyrock alum Paige Moorcroft recorded six kills and six digs for Lower Columbia.

Centralia (10-16, 3-5) hosts Grays Harbor on Friday in a West Region contest.
