LONGVIEW — The Blazers scored two goals in each half to earn a 4-0 win against Lower Columbia in a West Region NWAC women’s soccer game here on Wednesday.

“We played really well. There’s a lot of things to work on on the defensive side. Our offense i s starting to play well,” Centralia head coach Clarence Gundersen said. “We played really hard.”

Joanna Pingel scored for Centralia in the 7th minute. Cassity Colard scored in the 11th minute for a 2-0 Blazers lead at halftime.

Haylee Ward scored both goals in the second half in the 56th and 58th minutes. Pingel added two assists to go with her goal.

Centralia goalkeeper Bethany Dinh made six saves in the clean sheet. The Blazers outshot the Red Devils 15-11.

“Things are starting to click for us. We’ve been seeing some of the things we’ve been teaching the girls trying to make this team a better team,” Gundersen said. “We’re on track to make school history with four games in a row. It would be the first time since the soccer program started the team has won four games. We’re second to Highline which has never really happened before.”

Gundersen gave credit to his coaching staff for the success, including Emily Sorenson, Steve Ward and Selesha Harrah.

Centralia (4-3-1, 3-1) has won three in a row and will try to make it four in a row on Saturday, hosting Grays Harbor at 7 p.m. in Tiger Stadium in a West Region contest.
