Wednesday's College Basketball: Seven Blazers Score in Double Figures to Torch Grays Harbor

ABERDEEN — Centralia College outscored the Chokers 54-4 in the second and third quarters here on Tuesday on their way to a decisive 97-28 victory in NWAC West Conference women’s basketball action.

The Blazers led 25-16 after one quarter but ran out to a 79-20 lead to start the fourth quarter. Centralia held Grays Harbor to just 10 made field goals on 41 attempts and won the rebound battle 38-17.

Seven Blazers scored in double figures as Centralia shot 57 percent from the field on 68 shots. Selena Cudney led the Blazers with a game-high 21 points while Rachel Wilkerson added 19 points, and Piper Cai scored 13 points. Caitlin Yenne, Megan Cash, Lindsey Nurmi, and Ashley Huffine all scored 10 points. Cash turned in a double-double with a team-high 11 rebounds.

Centralia (12-7, 5-0) will host Green River at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Men's: Centralia Collapses Against Chokers



ABERDEEN — The Blazers blew a first half lead here on Wednesday when their offense cratered down the stretch as they lost 83-72 to the Chokers in a NWAC West Conference Men’s basketball contest.

Centralia College led 53-40 at the intermission but scored just 19 points the rest of the way as Grays Harbor came charging back for the win.

Zyare Ruffin led the Chokers with a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. The Chokers out-rebounded the Blazers 36-24 in the game and connected on 57 percent of their 59 shots from the field.

Kobe Matsen scored at team-high 14 points for Centralia. Taylor Peppinger added 12 points and three steals while Tyler Ashmore chipped in 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Centralia (8-11, 3-1 league) will host Green River at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
