Wednesday's College Baseball: Centralia Splits Doubleheader With Shoreline

Centralia won the first game but Shoreline was able to win Game 2 to earn a doubleheader split in non-conference NWAC baseball action at Wheeler Field on Wednesday.

The Blazers won Game 1, 14-12. Centralia collected 10 hits, with Josh Parks going 3-for-3 with a double, a run and three RBI and Colton Titus had a double, four runs, two RBI and two walks.

Nole Wollan was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI for Centralia.

Cole Doughty got the start and picked up the win on the mound for the Blazers, throwing four innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs and four walks with two strikeouts.

The Blazers scored four runs in the second and third innings before plating two runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 10-4 lead after five. Shoreline didn’t go away, scoring three runs in the sixth before scoring five runs in the final two innings, but didn’t quite have enough to complete the comeback.



In Game 2, the Dolphins won a much lower scoring game, 4-2. Shoreline’s Carson Metcalfe started on the mound and earned the win, throwing 6 ⅔ innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs along with four strikeouts. Marcus Noteboom came on in relief to finish out the game, allowing no hits, no runs while striking out three.

Centralia’s Connor Bensen started and threw two innings, allowing one hit, no earned runs and two walks while striking out two batters.

Festus Gilligan was 2-for-3 and Colton Titus had a double and two RBI. Ethan Hori also had a double and a run for the Blazers.

Shoreline scored a run in the fourth and fifth to lead 2-1. Each team scored a run in the seventh before the Dolphins added an insurance run in the ninth.

Centralia (4-10) hosts Spokane this weekend for four games, with doubleheaders set for noon on Saturday and Sunday at Wheeler Field.
