W.F. West’s Camryn Bostick earned medalist honors to lead the Bearcats to a 238-289 win over Rochester in an Evergreen 2A Conference boys golf match at Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis on Wednesday.

Bostick carded a 43 to earn the top spot. Tukker Rosbach and Dirk Plakinger each shot a 46 for the Bearcats to tie for second place.

Connor Trodahl tallied a 49 and Racyn Birdwell rounded out the Bearcats with a 54.

Logan Fry led the way for the Warriors with a 49. Luke Barth carded a 56 and Xavier Mendez and Gabe Masias each had a 60. Hayden Williams added a 64 for Rochester.

“It wasn’t quite our day. We’ve definitely got some work cut out for us,” Rochester coach Eric Holmkvist said. “Hopeuflly we can get in a little bit of dry weather and work on some things. It’s been a tough week with all the rain. We have two seniors right now, it would be nice to have some of those younger guys play through situational stuff.”

Rochester (0-3) travels to Tumwater on Monday while W.F. West (4-0) travels to Aberdeen on Monday.

Tigers Can’t Keep Pace with T-Birds

TUMWATER — Centralia posted the top scores here at Tumwater Valley Golf Course but still fell 225-235 at the hands of the hometown Thunderbirds in Evergreen Conference boys golf action.

Rudy Voetberg was the match medalist with a score of 39 and Brett Wasson backed that up with a round of 40 for the Tigers. Nolan Rice and Jesse Kuykendall shot matching rounds of 49 for Centralia and Jayden Pannette rounded out the scoring with a round of 58.

“Rudy and Brett scored well today,” said Centralia coach Hal Gronseth. “But, they are even capable of scoring better than that.”

While Voetberg and Wasson bested their contemporaries, the back end of the T-Birds lineup made up that ground and then some.

“Their number three, Regan Broome, came in with a 40 and we don’t have that,” said Gronseth. “We’ve got five guys who need to shoot at the top of their game if we want to compete with some of the best teams in the league.”

Gronseth did note that Pannette improved his score by about 10 strokes over last week.

Centralia (1-2) will host Aberdeen on Monday.
