Wednesday's 2B Softball: Castle Rock Blanks Napavine

CASTLE ROCK – Napavine wrapped up its regular season campaign with a 4-0 loss here at the hands of the Rockets, who recently secured yet another in a long line of 1A Trico League championships.

“They were pretty pumped up. It was the their senior night and they’ve got six or seven of them, so they had a lot of fans and a lot of energy,” said Napavine coach Chad Williams. “We just really didn’t match that energy in my opinion.”

Castle Rock scored one run in the first and three runs in the sixth inning, which just so happened to be the same innings that Napavine combined to commit five uncharacteristic errors.

Abbi Music pitched all six innings for Napavine and gave up just four hits while striking out eight batters.

“She threw well enough to win, we just didn’t hit the ball,” said Williams.

Offensively, Taylor Denault and Ada Williams scrapped out the only two hits for the Tigers.

“I don’t think we played terrible,” said Williams, whose team already secured their own league championship. “It was good for us to play a team that’s rolling that well. I’m not terribly upset because there's a lot you can learn from a loss.”

Napavine will begin the District 4 2B Softball Tournament at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Fort Borst Park.
