ROCHESTER — W.F. West won both the boys and girls team titles over Tumwater and Rochester in an Evergreen 2A Conference track meet here on Wednesday.
On the girls side, Jade Ennis-Palmer won three times, taking the 100 meters with a time of 13.85 seconds, winning the shot put at 34 feet, 6 inches and taking the long jump at 14-05.
Emma Thornburg won the 200 (28.15) and Gracie Ericson won the 400 (1:09.91) and the triple jump (30-02), with teammate Olivia Braun was close behind Ericson for second in the 400 (1:12.03). Braun also won the high jump at 4-06.
Emma Moon won the 1600 with a time of 5:39.74. Savannah Johnston placed second in the 3200 (14:20.10) and Lauren Tornow took second in the 100 meter hurdles (18.30).
Kelly Robertson won in the 300 hurdles (51.42) and Megan Nowels placed third (54.96). Courtney Bennett added a third-place finish in the 100.
W.F. West swept the relays, with a time of 53.71 in the 4x100 (Emma Thornburg, Kelly Robertson, Ennis-Palmer, Bennett); a 1:52.64 mark in the 4x200 (Robertson, Thornburg, Bennett, Tornow); and a 4:27.18 finish in the 4x400 (Bennett, Moon, Robertson, Thornburg).
Megan Pallas won the discus (79-06) and the javelin (93-01) and Kendra Bottenberg placed second in the discus (77-09) and the javelin (91-06).
Rochester’s Sufina Ahmath finished second in the 200 (30.56) and second in the triple jump (28-06). Kate Peltier placed second in the high jump (4-04) and Smbaikaye Huriavi finished third in the triple jump (27-11).
In boys action, W.F. West’s Colby White had a clean sweep of the jumping events, winning the high jump (6-02), the long jump (19-06) and the triple jump (42-03.50).
Sonny Holub won the 1600 (4:45.07) and finished second in the 800. Francisco Lima won the 3200 (10:39.21) and finished third in the 1600. Jack Mallonee won the 300 hurdles (42.78) and teammate Connor Russell finished in second (44.30) and also took second in the 110 hurdles (18.12).
Dallas Taylor placed second in the 400 (54.21) and Zach Sloan was second in the shot put (44-06). Joey Wylam took second in the discus (108-07) and Ka’imi Henry finished second in the javelin (138-04).
Rochester’s Gerardo Sanchez Carpio won the 200 in 23.49 and Kelin Pasko won the 800 (2:04.67). The 4x100 relay team for Rochester won with a time of 45.84 (Michael North, Connor Haskins, Patrick Riley, Ian Lupardus), just edging W.F. West by .14 seconds.
Chase Dickinson finished third for the Warriors in the discus (106-00).
"This was truly a team effort and a sign of our depth as a group,” W.F. West coach Autumn Ledgerwood said. “These wins help to provide affirmation to our team for their hard work up to this point and the importance of them continuing to push one another in practice each and every day."
Rochester competes on Friday at the Wolf Pack Invite in Tumwater while W.F. West will travel across the mountains on Saturday to compete in the Pasco Invitational.
Tiger Girls Win EvCo Meet at Black Hills
TUMWATER — Centralia’s girls squad came out on top here Wednesday in a three-team Evergreen 2A Conference track meet, hosted by Black Hills with Aberdeen also in attendance.
Makayla Erickson won the 1600 meters in 6 minutes, 1 second for Centralia, and added a third-place finish in the 800.
Alex Hamilton won the 300 hurdles in a personal-best 57.89 seconds and finished second in the 100 hurdles (20.19), and Kacey Emery won the shot put in a personal-record 31 feet, 4 inches and finished third in the javelin.
Anastasia Ulrigg won the triple jump (33-08) and took second in the high jump and third in the long jump, and Sheila Johnson won the pole vault (7-0) for the Tigers. Ulrigg, Erickson, Tawnee Craig and Rebekah Robbins teamed up to win the 4x400 relay in 4:43.52.
Tate-Madison Bell added a win in the 3200 (15:57) for Centralia, which edged Black Hills, 64-61, for first.
Black Hills won the boys meet with 83 points. Aberdeen was second (49) and Centralia took third (47).
Rudy Voetberg won the 1600 (5:00.14, a personal record) for the Tiger boys, and finished second in the 3200 (10:54) and fourth in the 800. Ben Corwin won the pole vault (10-6), and Levi Sathre won the triple jump (39-05.5).
Sha’Ron Settles was second in the 200 and fourth in the 400, and Daniel Morales was third in both the 3200 and the 1600.
Centralia runs in the Willamette Falls Invitational on Saturday in Oregon City.
