The U.S. Military All-Stars, a touring baseball team made up of active-duty military members, veterans and first responders, will start its Northwest tour late next week in Centralia with help locally from American Legion Baseball.

The All-Stars will start their tour on Friday, with a slow-pitch softball game at Fort Borst Park against a local team comprised of members of the local police and fire departments and first responders. The local team, headed up by Commander Jim Rich of the Centralia Police Department, has picked the moniker ‘Guns & Hoses,’ and will take on the All-Stars at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The team will then face the Centralia Sobe-Toyota senior American Legion baseball team for a complete game on Saturday afternoon at Ed Wheeler Field, with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.

The All-Stars are also scheduled to tour the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis over the weekend, in addition to making other stops around the Twin Cities.

The U.S. Military All-Stars are the only all-branch military team in the country, and started training for their Northwest tour at Fort Lewis. The team was established in the early 1990s to compete in around 50 games annually, at all levels, while providing direct support to the Wounded Warriors Project and the Department of Defense while making over 150 appearances. The “Red, White & Blue” tour also conducts choreographed pregame events including Passing the Flag and Walk of Honor ceremonies to celebrate American history.

The team includes 28 players and five coaches, with a current roster featuring members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, and New York Police Department.

The All-Stars’ Northwest tour will continue with a game against senior American Legion teams in Selah and Yakima June 14-15, and will continue in Bremerton later that week. They’ll take part in a meet-and-greet fundraiser with the Seattle Mariners on June 20, and wrap up their tour on June 24 in Bellingham before returning to duty.
