“First night on the floor, we tried a couple different rotations and just worked on running through our offense and pointed out some things we need to work on in practice,” Rochester coach Wendy Hawes said. “The girls were pretty fired up. It was a good first game.”

Bulldogs Rough Up Bearcats in Opener

Montesano was too much for W.F. West in the season opener as the Bearcats lost 3-1 in a non-league volleyball match on Tuesday in Chehalis.

Ava Olsen and Sophia DeTray each had five kills and Olsen led the team with four aces. Paytton Crawford tallied 18 assists for the Bearcats.

“We’ve got some kinks to work out. We’ve got a ton of good utility players and we’re still figuring out where people’s strengths are going to be,” W.F. West coach Emily Mora said. “We tried out a bunch of different lineups and rotations. As far as who is getting the bulk of the play time, we’re still dividing that up. It was nice for me to see we have a bunch of people that can play in different areas.”

W.F. West (0-1) travels to Longview to take on R.A. Long on Thursday in a non-league contest.
