Tuesday's Girls Tennis: Bearcats Swing Past Rockets

W.F. West won all but one match against Castle Rock to earn a 5-1 win in a non-league girls tennis match in Chehalis on Tuesday.

Sydney Cameron made quick work of Castle Rock’s Madeline Del Castillo in the top singles match, 6-0, 6-3. Jenna LaFontaine won the only match for Castle Rock in the No. 2 singles spot. W.F. West’s Lexis Haller won in the No. 3 singles match, topping Grace Pelletier, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

In doubles, the Bearcats top duo of Joelle Chung and Jisu Han cruised to a win in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. W.F. West’s No. 2 duo of Tianna Jeffries and Stephanie Drummond needed three sets to get past Hanna Lair and Megan Keeling, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Lauren Mason and Lauren Balmelli were able to take down Castle Rock’s Mya Longdon and Taylor Madden, 6-1, 6-3.

W.F. West (4-0) travels to Ridgefield on Thursday for a non-league match.

Three Rivers Christian Edges Centralia



KELSO — Centralia and Three Rivers Christian each won three matches, but Three Rivers Christian won due to an 8-6 set advantage in a non-league girls tennis match here on Tuesday.

Centralia’s Evie Rooklidge defeated Kaylena Morrison in the No. 3 spot, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Bailee Wallace won in the top singles match over Centralia’s Liza Hopkins, 6-0, 6-0. Olivia Wiley fell to Three Rivers Christian’s Pervie Reed, 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles action, Centralia’s No. 2 duo Maya O’Dell and Maddie Corwin won over Kamryn Wright and Jessie Tevis, 6-4, 6-1. No. 3 Tiger duo Kenhia Hinojosa-Orosko and Serina Stehr needed three sets to defeat Kendall Newport and McKenna Leff, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Brynna Rooklidge and Danika Jensen fell in the top doubles match to Three Rivers Christian’s Abby McCracken and Mabrie Richards, 2-6, 2-6.

Centralia (0-1) hosts Tenino on Wednesday in a non-league match.
