TOLEDO — United opened the league schedule and played its first home game against Stevenson on Tuesday, winning 7-0 in a 1A Trico League match.

The scoring started in the first half with Gustavo Barragan assisting on younger brother Edgar’s goal for a 1-0 lead and the same combination scored the second goal in the 31st minute.

Andreas Malunat scored in the 33rd minute on an assist from Nicholas Patching and the two reversed roles in the 37th minute, as Patching scored on an assist from Malunat for a 4-0 lead at halftime.

In the 41st minute, Isaac Garibay scored on an assist from Malunat. Danny Guijosa scored in the 47th minute on an assist from Patching, and Malunat scored his second of the game in the 54th minute to put a stamp on the victory.

“We did well. We’ve been on turf this whole time, we haven’t had a chance to practice on the field,” United coach Horst Malunat said. “It took us awhile to adapt to our own home field but we finally did. ...The kids played well. It was nice having some freshman step in (Edgar Barragan) and contribute, it’s nice having that other option.”

Alan Contreras made three saves in the shutout win.

United (1-3-1, 1-0) travels to face La Center on Thursday in a Trico League match.
