Tuesday's 2B Softball: Pirates Homer Past Kalama

ADNA — The Pirates hit four homers in four turns at bat and shut out Kalama, 13-0, here Tuesday in Central 2B League softball action.

Haley Rainey went 2 for 3 with a pair of homers and three RBIs, Darian Humphrey went 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBIs, and Jenikka Poppe went 3 for 3 with a homer and four RBIs.

Poppe worked all five innings in the circle, striking out nine and walking two. The defense played error-free behind her.

“We played good defense tonight, we hit the ball, and we ran the bases better,” Adna coach Bruce Pocklington said. “I think we just hit the ball on the screws a little better each time we’ve gone out so far.”

Emma Eko went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple and an RBI for Adna. Macey Sykes was 3 for 3 for Kalama.

Adna (2-0, all league games) hosts Mossyrock on Thursday.

Napavine Blanks Wahkiakum

NAPAVINE — Abbi Music struck out the only six batters she faced and Napavine crushed Wahkiakum, 17-0, here Tuesday in C2BL softball action.

Music helped her own cause by going 2 for 3 at the plate, while Taylor Denault was 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs.

Ada Williams tossed a scoreless third inning to finish out the game, after Napavine plated 15 runs in the second inning.

Napavine (3-0, all league games) hosts Elma on Wednesday.

Loggers Rough Up Winlock

ONALASKA — Amy Henderson drove in three runs and got the win in the circle as Onalaska picked up a 12-2 win over Winlock here Tuesday in Central 2B League softball action.

Henderson went 2 for 4 with a double, and struck out seven with two walks in five innings of work.

Sandra Leal went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs, with a double, for Onalaska, and Olivia Mitten doubled and knocked in a pair of runs. Haylie Howard added two RBIs for the Loggers.

“Winlock came in and played pretty good,” Onalaska coach Ken Ulery said. “Our bats still aren’t where I think they should be, but that’s alright. We’ve got a long ways to go. The girls’ efforts are there, but I’ve got to coach them better and get them more prepared for the season to come.”

Jenna Jones went 2 for 3 and drove in both runs for Winlock.



Onalaska (2-0) plays at Wahkiakum on Friday. Winlock (0-3) hosts Naselle on Wednesday.

Ducks Cruise Past MWP

MORTON — Toutle Lake scored in each of the game’s five innings for a 19-5 win over Morton-White Pass here Tuesday in C2BL softball action.

Kendal Bennett, Keeley Studebaker-Smith and Casey Wentz each had three hits for the Ducks, while pitcher Baylee Ranta was 2 for 3 with a double, a triple and four RBIs. Ranta pitched all five innings, striking out four and walking one.

Morton-White Pass coach Rob Hazen noted that his team had just one error going into the fourth inning, when three miscues in a row helped the Ducks scored six runs.

“We just can’t make those errors and give them extra at-bats,” he said. “We’ve got three freshman pitchers, so we’re still in the learning process.”

Jaiden Linder was 1 for 3 with a double and Tayla Pierson was 1 for 3 for MWP.

Morton-White Pass (2-1) plays at Mossyrock on Friday.

Titans Power Past Toledo

PE ELL — Toledo got a run in the top of the first inning, but it was all Pe Ell-Willapa Valley after that in a 16-1 win here Tuesday in C2BL softball action.

Katie Adkins went 4 for 4 with two doubles and five RBIs, Katelyn McGough went 3 for 4 with a double and a triple, and Britney Patrick was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a triple.

Kamryn Adkins allowed two hits in four innings to get the win.

“We were a little flat early, and we spent quite a bit of time after the game talking about that,” PWV coach Ken Olson said. “We’ve just got to come out of the box and do what we do, and that’s put the ball in play and hit.”

The Titans played flawless defense behind Adkins, Olson noted.

Haleigh Holmes and Trinity Waner had Toledo’s two hits.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley (3-0, all league games) is scheduled to play at Toutle Lake on Friday. Toledo (0-3) is scheduled to host Rainier on Friday.
