Tuesday's 2B Softball: Loggers Edge Toutle to Wrap Regular Season

ONALASKA — The Loggers picked up a bit of playoff momentum here Tuesday, beating Toutle Lake 4-3 in a Central 2B League softball game.

With the game tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning Onalaska put two runners on base with a pair of bunts, then moved the runners over on a passed ball. Alicia Vint walked to load the bases, and Adalee Sabin hit a line-drive single to center field to score the walk-off run.

“Adalee Sabin came up clutch, getting the run in,” Logger coach Ken Ulery said.

Vint went 2 for 2 with a triple. Haylie Howard was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles, and Sandra Leal and Ashley Pannkuk were both 2 for 3.

Amy Henderson pitched all seven innings for the Loggers, holding Toutle Lake to six hits. Two errors in the first inning helped the Ducks plate their first run.

“She settled down,” Ulery said. “The first inning wasn’t her fault. … It seemed like she was getting stronger as the game went on.”

The win does nothing for the Loggers’ playoff situation; Onalaska wrapped the season at 11-7 overall and 11-5 in league play for a fifth-place finish. The loss, though, puts Toutle Lake in a tie for third with Adna at 12-4 in league play, though as Adna beat the Ducks in their one matchup this season Adna will be the No. 3 seed from the C2BL into the District 4 2B Softball Tournament, which begins Monday at Fort Borst Park.

Onalaska will play the Pacific 2B League No. 4 seed at 6 p.m., and Adna plays Kalama, the Central No. 8, at 6 p.m. on Monday in Centralia.
