Tuesday's 1A Baseball: Baserunning Mistakes Doom Tenino Against Hoquiam

Posted

TENINO — Tenino outhit Hoquiam in an Evergreen 1A League baseball game here on Tuesday, but poor baserunning came back to bit the Beavers as the Grizzlies won 8-4.

Jace Griffis was 4 for 4 and Logan Brewer and Ryan Deoskey each had two hits for Tenino.

The game was tied at 4 after three innings. Hoquiam added a run in the fifth and three more runs in the seventh to seal the win.

Tenino coach Conner Hogue wasn’t happy with his team’s performance on the basepaths.

“We made some egregious mistakes on the base paths that can’t happen. We kept hitting the ball but made too many baserunning mistakes,” Hogue said. “That’s what did us in. They had two HR’s. They hit the ball well, we just couldn’t keep up.”

Tenino (7-6-1, 3-4) travels to Hoquiam tomorrow for a league game.
