Thursday's Prep Girls Tennis: Tumwater Takes Down Centralia

Centralia’s Carissa Kaut won a three set battle, but she was the only Tiger to earn a win as Tumwater won 5-1 in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls tennis match at Borst Park in Centralia on Thursday.

Kaut won in the No. 1 singles match over Tumwater’s Courtney Borovec in three sets. Borovec won the first set 7-5, but Kaut battled back and came from behind down 5-2 in the second set to win the set 7-6. The match was lengthy so they played a 10-point tiebreaker in the first set, with Kaut prevailing 10-4.

Gracie Wiley fell to Tumwater’s Kailey Hickey in the No. 2 singles match, 6-4, 6-0 and Evie Rooklidge fell in the No. 3 spot to Tumwater’s Leann White, 6-0, 6-4.



Sophia Koelsch and Abby Bond defeated Centralia’s Maddie Corwin and Liza Hopkins in the top doubles match, 6-2, 6-3. Maya O’Dell and Olivia Wiley fell to Tumwater’s Josie Grimm and Ari Kee in the No. 2 doubles match, 6-0, 6-0. Hannah Kolb and Abby Jasper completed the doubles sweep for Tumwater, defeating Centralia’s Jaelyn Friberg and Serina Stehr, 6-1, 6-1.

Centralia (3-5, 1-3) travels to Tumwater on Friday to take on Black Hills in an EvCo match.
