Thursday's 2B Softball: Titan Bats Heat Up Late in Win Over Elma

PE ELL — Pe Ell-Willapa Valley took a few innings to get the bats going, but they came alive in the fourth inning to help the Titans earn an 11-6 win in a non-league softball game here on Thursday.

PWV’s Britney Patrick had three hits including two home runs and five RBIs. Kamryn Adkins was 2 for 4 with a home run.

Katie Adkins was 2 for 3 with a double and Annika Mason was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Elma jumped ahead 3-0 after the first inning and led 6-3 after four innings. PWV’s bats heated up in the fifth inning to score three runs and tie the game, followed by a five-run fifth inning to secure the win.

“Played decently. We’ve just got to pick it up early in the game but we came on strong,” PWV coach Ken Olson said. “We’ve done this quite often this year. We give up a couple and then we come storming back. We need to clean up our game early. We had three errors early and cleaned it up and started hitting again.”

PWV ends the season 17-3 overall and 14-2 in Central 2B League games. The Titans placed second in the C2BL and will begin the District 4 2B Softball Tournament on Wednesday at 2 p.m. against the winner of Winlock-South Bend.
