I-5 Toyota/Mountain Dew has won all three games at the GSL Showcase tournament in Centralia this week.
I-5 Toyota won on Friday 1-0 over Wenatchee Valley. Camden Ryan pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and one walk with five strikeouts in the shutout performance.
The player of the game was Lane Douglass, driving in the only run of the game in the fourth inning. Douglass also made a diving catch for the first out in the seventh inning and threw a guy out at home with a throw from right field to end the game.
On Thursday, I-5 Toyota defeated the DeMerini Renegades 6-4. Dakota Hawkins started on the mound and pitched six innings, allowing no earned runs and three walks while striking out 11 batters.
Teegan Zillyet and Nole Wollan each had two RBIs.
The Renegades scored four runs in the third inning due to four I-5 Toyota errors, but I-5 Toyota answered back with three runs in the fifth and sixth innings for the comeback win.
On Tuesday, I-5 Toyota kicked off the showcase with a 7-1 victory against the Tacoma Tugs.
Brandon White started and threw six innings, striking out 11 batters while allowing three hits and one run. Dylan Stakelin came on and retired Tacoma in order in the seventh.
Kolby Sharp had a 2-run inside the park home run in the sixth and Hawkins added two doubles for I-5 Toyota.
I-5 Toyota is back in action Saturday at Ed Wheeler Field, playing at 1 p.m. against a to be determined opponent.
Renegades Win Two Games at Lakefair Tournament
OLYMPIA — The I-5 Jeep Renegades won both games at the Lakefair Touranment here on Thursday and Friday.
On Thursday, the Renegades started the tournament with a 12-1 win in six innings over Black Hills.
Brit Lusk and Luke Wichert combined to throw a no-hitter for the Renegades. Lusk had eight strikeouts in three innings of work in the start. Wichert pitched the final four innings and struck out five batters.
At the plate, Luke Bennett had two hits including a 2-run home run in the fourth inning and Christian Bean added two hits. Josiah Johnson added a 2-run double in the fourth.
The Renegades scored two runs in the third to open up the scoring before plating six runs in the fourth inning to insure the win.
The Renegades won 7-6 against Aberdeen on Friday. Cade Haller hit an RBI-double in the fifth to tie the game and Lusk hit a sacrifice fly to bring home the tying run in the sixth before scoring one more run and holding off Aberdeen in the seventh.
On defense, the Renegades committed six errors and on the mound, pitchers walked eight batters and hit another, but the Renegades were able to overcome the mistakes to earn the win.
On Saturday, the Renegades face Tenino at 10 a.m. in the final game of group play. The Renegades have already won their group and will play at 1 p.m. at Waits Field in a semifinal game against a to be determined opponent.
Centralia 2-0 at Lakefair Tournament
OLYMPIA — Centralia Titus-Will is undefeated in two games at the Lakefair Tournament here on Thursday and Friday.
Centralia opened the tournament on Thursday against Hoquiam and won 7-4.
Chris Kirner was 2 for 3 and Dominic Aguirre was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Tyler Milton was also 2 for 3 with a 2-RBI single in the fourth inning.
Centralia coach Rex Ashmore noted the relief pitching performance of Bayden Teitzel and Jackson Hull, commenting they both threw strikes and the defense played well behind them.
Hoquiam gained a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but Centralia plated four runs in the fourth inning and added two runs in the fifth to secure the win.
On Friday, Benito Valencia pitched five solid innings to lead Centralia to a 6-1 win.
Valencia gave up two hits and one walk while striking out five batters.
At the plate, Derek Beairsto was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Dominic Aguirre was 2 for 4.
Centralia scored two runs in the third inning and added at least one run in the next three innings for the win.
Centralia faces River Ridge on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Crandall Field in Olympia before the playoffs on Sunday.
