Summer Baseball: I-5 Toyota Comes Back to Top Longview

LONGVIEW — I-5 Toyota trailed most of the game but scored two runs in the ninth to break a tie and closed the game out in the bottom of the ninth to earn a 5-3 win over Longview in a senior legion baseball game here on Thursday.

Drew Rose started on the mound for I-5 Toyota and was relieved by Camden Ryan in the sixth inning, who earned the win. Dakota Hawkins came on in the ninth and pitched a 1-2-3 inning to earn the save.

At the plate, Sawyer Burdick had three hits and two RBI and Hawkins added two hits and two runs for I-5 Toyota.



Longview scored one run in the third to take an early lead. I-5 Toyota scored a run in the fourth and the fifth but Longview answered with one run in the fifth and sixth to regain the lead. I-5 Toyota plated one run in the seventh to even the score and tallied two runs in the ninth to take the lead and held on in the bottom of the ninth.

I-5 Toyota (5-0, 3-0) faces Black Hills at 6:30 p.m. to kick off the Lower Columbia Tournament at LCC this weekend. I-5 Toyota will face showtime at 7 p.m. on Saturday before bracket play on Sunday.
