SPOKANE — W.F. West’s Brady Hinds shot a two day total of 168 to finish 32nd at the State 2A boys golf tournament at Liberty Lake Golf Course here on Wednesday.

Hinds shot an 83 in the first round on Tuesday before shooting an 85 on Wednesday for a total of 168.

“Brady Hinds ended up with 32nd place and that’s nothing to sneeze at,” W.F. West coach Bruce Thompson said. “Brady played well. He played pretty much the same score both days.”

Lynden’s Jordan Medcalf won the tournament, shooting a two day total of 147. Ridgefield won the team title with 128 points.

Centralia’s Brett Wasson failed to make the cut after shooting an 89 in the first round.

Elizabeth Twining competed in the State 2A girls golf tournament at Meadowwood Golf Course in Spokane. Twining shot a 101 in the first round, failing to make the cut to compete on day two.

“Elizabeth didn’t make the second day but she played a real good score on that second nine,” Thompson said. “The was all the way down to a 47. It was a real neat thing for her because she’s a junior and it’s her first time to state.”

Ellensburg’s Kathryn Crimp won the tournament, shooting a two day total of 146. Sammamish won the team title with 107.50 points.

It was the final tournament for coach Thompson after 25 years.

"I know that there's going to be a lot that I miss,” Thompson said. “There's things that happen, mostly at practice, and I'm always racing home to tell my wife about it. There's lots of stuff that happens that still gets you excited. It was a nice season to finish with and pass the baton to Matt. He's going to do a great job."
