State 1B/2B Girls Soccer: Adna Blanks Liberty Bell For Final Four Berth

WINTHROP — The Pirates were too much for the Mountain Lions here on Saturday in a 3-0 Adna win in a State 1B/2B girls soccer tournament quarterfinal game.

Adna will take on Mount Vernon Christian next Friday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner in the state semifinals.

Payton Aselton started the scoring for the Pirates in the 3rd minute on a penalty kick after a handball in the box. Aselton scored again in the eighth minute on an assist by Cierra Swenson. Zarine Walker scored the final goal of the match in the 30th minute on an assist by Joey Swenson.

The Pirates had 17 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Makaela Meister made seven saves and Kayden McCombs had three saves.



Toledo Falls to Mount Vernon Christian

ANACORTES — The Indians battled with Mount Vernon Christian for more than 80 minutes and the game was decided in a shootout, with MVC winning 1-0 in a State 1B/2B girls soccer tournament quarterfinal game here on Saturday.

Toledo had 15 shots with eight on target. Kaylee Veigel made 11 saves in the loss. MVC won in penalty kicks, 3-1.

Toledo ends the season 14-6 overall and 7-2 in Central 2B League games.
