YAKIMA — Makaela Meister had quite the performance in the net here on Saturday for Adna, making 31 saves in a 3-0 loss to Walla Walla at Yakima Valley College.

The Blue Devils, a 4A school, scored in the first half on a Jennifer Huntsman goal for a 1-0 advantage at intermission. Katelyn Hassler and Reese Fewell each had goals for Walla Walla in the second half.

Despite the loss, coach Juli Aselton was pleased with how her team performed. She noted defenders Brynn Arrington, Madi Stark, Lorien Walker, Kaden McCombs and Leanna Trip all worked hard in front of Meister, who was the MVP for the Pirates on Saturday.

“We are thankful that Walla Walla agrees to give us these non-league games,” Aselton said. “Our two teams enjoy meeting in Yakima for a friendly game. It gives us a great challenge before we meet with our 2B teams.”

The Pirates had eight shots on net. Aselton also commended the performance of sophomore midfielder Gracie Beaulieu.

Adna (0-1) travels to Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner, home of the WIAA state 2B girls soccer final four, to take on Cascade Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
