Saturday's Prep Cross Country: Locals Compete at Capital Invite

OLYMPIA — W.F. West senior William Taylor finished 39th at the Capital Invite cross country race here on Saturday.

Taylor finished the race in 12 minutes, 30 seconds.

Rainier senior Sophie Beadle finished ninth in the senior race as the highest local finisher, completing the race in 14 minutes, 40 seconds. W.F. West’s Xylia Warner finished 36th in 16:36.

In the boys junior race, W.F. West’s Myles Johnston was the highest local finisher in 17th place with a time of 12:22. Tenino’s Drew Hart placed 35th with a time of 13:04.

W.F. West’s Iris Van der ploeg was the highest local finisher in 45th place in the girls junior race with a time of 17:23. W.F. West sophomore Elaina Koenig finished 26th with a time of 16:14.



Centralia Puts in Paces at Capital Invite

OLYMPIA — Centralia and Tenino had a good time at the Capital Invite here Saturday as the Tigers girls and Beavers boys both placed third as a team. The Centralia boys team also managed a fourth place finish.

“We had three kids place in the top 20 at the Capital Invite today at Capital High School. There were over 1200 competitors,” noted Centralia cross country coach Llynnae Erickson in an email to The Chronicle.

Brynna Rooklidge of Centralia finished her 2.25 mile race in 15:40 for a 19th place finish. In the middle school ranks Samuel Johnson completed his 1.6 mile race in 10:43 for a 15th place finish and Ronin Blair placed 18th with a time of 10:47.
