VANCOUVER — Tenino’s Kaylee Schow scored a career high 47 points to help the Beavers earn a 67-60 win in overtime over Seton Catholic in a non-league girls basketball game here on Saturday.
Schow was 22 of 32 from the free throw line to help her tally her 47 points.
Jasmine Morgan led the Cougars with 24 points.
Tenino outrebounded Seton Catholic 42-29 but the Cougars shot better from the field at 29 percent compared to the Beavers’ 22 percent shooting.
The Beavers led 27-23 at halftime. Seton Catholic dominated the third quarter, 20-8, but Tenino bounced back and was able to tie the game at 55 to force overtime.
It was all Beavers in the overtime, outscoring Seton Catholic 12-5 to claim the win.
Tenino (2-1) hosts Aberdeen on Tuesday in a non-league game.
Hudson’s Bay Takes Down Rochester
ROCHESTER — Lexi Jones-Sederberg had a double-double for the Warriors, but it was Hudson’s Bay that came away with a 53-49 win in a non-league girls basketball game here on Saturday.
Jones-Sederberg scored 21 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished four assists. Paige Winter chipped in 12 points for the Warriors.
Aniyah Hampton led all scorers with 28 points.
Rochester had a solid first half and led 27-23 at halftime. Hudson’s Bay took the lead after a 12-7 third quarter and held on down the stretch to earn the win.
Rochester (1-2) travels to Montesano on Tuesday.
Mossyrock Edges Morton-White Pass
RANDLE — Morton-White Pass had a big second half but it wasn’t enough as the Vikings won 44-40 in a non-league girls basketball game here on Saturday.
Mossyrock was led by Heather Edgar’s 15 points. Jenny Brockway added three points and led the Vikings with 10 rebounds.
MWP’s Jacie Dunlap scored 21 points to lead all scorers and Hannah Smathers chipped in 12 points.
The T-Wolves turned the ball over 18 times in the loss.
The Vikings jumped out to a 19-13 lead at halftime. MWP tried to close the gap in the third quarter and trailed 29-27 going into the fourth, but the Vikings were able to fend off the T-Wolves down the stretch.
“It was just a fun game. We enjoy playing Mossyrock, so many granddaughters down there,” MWP coach Tom Griffith said. “This is the old one (granddaughter). I’ve been through her playing, coaching against granddaughters for nine years. They know our girls and we know theirs.”
Mossyrock (1-0) hosts Wahkiakum on Wednesday in a non-league game while MWP (1-2) travels to Toledo on Wednesday for a non-league game.
Chief Leschi Hammers Pe Ell
PUYALLUP — Chief Leschi outscored Pe Ell 40-8 in the first half to cruise to a 71-29 win in a Pacific 2B League girls basketball game here on Saturday.
Pe Ell’s Carolann Baldwin scored nine points and Katie Davis added eight points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Rachel Ward chipped in four points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Alicia Pluff led all scorers with 22 points for the Warriors.
Chief Leschi led 12-5 after one quarter and expanded the lead to 32 points at intermission to allow the Warriors to cruise to the win in the second half.
“Tonight, we just got simply hit in the mouth. We did not come prepared to play, they came really prepared to play,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. “We just got to continue to take from tonight what we didn’t do well and apply it moving forward.”
Pe Ell (0-2) travels to Tacoma on Wednesday to face Life Christian in a P2BL game.
Bearcats Fall to Washougal
WASHOUGAL — W.F. West opened the season with a tough loss, falling to the Panthers 77-47 in a non-league girls basketball game here on Friday night.
The Lady Bearcats shot just 2 of 27 from the 3-point line in the loss.
W.F. West senior Erika Brumfield left the game with an injury and did not return.
“Just looking at it, we were real lethargic and sluggish on defense,” W.F. West coach Tom Kelly said. “It was weird. When a player goes down, you think of what it might be, one of your better players goes down, it’s emotional.”
W.F. West hits the road on Thursday to face Fife in a non-league game.
