AUBURN — The Blazers shot the lights out, hitting 63 percent from the floor, to deliver a 92-27 shellacking to Green River on the road Saturday in Northwest Athletic Conference action.
The victory extends the Trailblazers win streak to 13 games and a perfect 13-0 division record in the West Region, while Green River lost its third straight.
Five Trailblazers recorded double-digit scoring, led by sophomore Piper Cai’s game-high 19 points. Cai added five assists and four rebounds. Rachel Wilkerson came off the bench and unloaded for 17 points and a team-high six rebounds. Selena Cudney added 16 points, five boards and three assists, while Megan Cash and Lindsey Nurmi each scored 11. Cash also tallied a game-high eight assists.
Centralia (20-7, 13-0) held Green River (2-24, 2-11) to just nine of 50 shooting (18 percent) and forced 15 Gator turnovers while collecting 14 steals. The Blazers drained 36 of 57 shots (63 percent), including a blazing 16 of 28 from beyond the arc at a 57 percent clip.
The Blazers end the regular season slate with a home matchup against South Puget Sound at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The NWAC Sweet 16 tournament begins March 5.
Centralia fell behind early and was never able to mount a comeback as another slow start plagued the Blazers in an 86-58 blowout road loss to Green River Saturday in Northwest Athletic Conference play.
Guard Jerry Boston scored a game-high 20 points but got little help offensively as the Trailblazers shot just four of 22 from long range (18 percent). Michael Adams was the only other Blazer in double-digit scoring with 14 points. Adams, Elijah Hoover and Kobe Matsen each pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
The Gators has five players in double-digit points, led by Cameron Woodward’s 18 points and Derek Cox’s 16. Green River (14-14, 6-7) shot a red-hot 51 percent from the field on 31 of 61 shooting.
Centralia (10-17, 5-8) has not lost three consecutive matches and will end the regular season with an 8 p.m. matchup at home against South Puget Sound (22-5, 12-1).
