Saturday's Boys Basketball: Morton-White Pass Dominates Mary M. Knight

ELMA — Morton-White Pass scored 57 points in the first half to cruise to a 72-22 win against Mary M. Knight in a non-league boys basketball game here on Saturday.

Hayden Young and Kayden Kelley each scored 13 points for MWP. Tyler Blake added 10 points and Layton Collette grabbed nine rebounds.

Eddy Krepplecz scored 11 points to lead the Owls.

MWP held Mary M. Knight to just seven made field goals and won the rebounding battle, 50-23.

The T-Wolves led 27-2 after one quarter and built a 57-16 lead at halftime.

MWP (2-0) travels to Mossyrock on Tuesday.

Toledo Falls to Vashon Island

FRIDAY HARBOR — The Pirates were too much for the Indians here on Saturday as Toledo fell 57-41 in a non-league boys basketball game of the Friday Harbor Tip Off Classic.

Ryan Bloomstrom scored 15 points to lead Toledo and Jake Cournyer added 10 points.

Vashon Island’s Luca Aprile led all scorers with 18 points and Finbarr Anderson totaled 10 points.

Vashon Island shot 47 percent from the field while Toledo shot just 39 percent. The Pirates also won the rebounding battle, 24-20.

It was 18-10 Pirates after the first quarter and Vashon Island kept the momentum going to lead 29-19 at halftime. Vashon Island held Toledo to seven points in the third quarter to pull away for the win.

Toledo (1-1) hosts Toutle Lake on Thursday in a non-league game.



Winlock Comeback Falls Short Against Tenison

WINLOCK — The Cardinals dug a hole in the first half that was just too deep to dig out of in the second half as Tenison Woods College out of Australia won 61-57 in a non-league boys basketball game here on Saturday.

Bryce Cline scored 24 points to lead Winlock. Noah Patching added 15 points and Landon Tiemens was also in double figures with 11 points.

Tenison shot 47 percent from the field while Winlock shot just 28 percent.

The Aussies built a 19-15 lead after one quarter and extended the advantage to 43-27 at halftime. Winlock held Tenison to single digit scoring in the third and fourth quarter but didn’t quite have enough to come from behind.

Winlock (2-0) travels to Seattle Lutheran on Monday.

Pe Ell Fends Off Chief Leschi

PE ELL — The Trojans scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to come from behind and earn a 60-56 win against Chief Leschi in a Pacific 2B League boys basketball game here on Saturday.

Jeremiah Yost scored 20 points and seven rebounds to lead Pe Ell. Max Smith added 17 points and Kollin Jurek tallied 11 points.

Chief Leschi’s Perry Joseph scored 19 points and Damien Roy tallied 15 points. Wakiyan Cuny chipped in 10 points as well for the Warriors.

It was a 17-12 Chief Leschi lead after one quarter but the Trojans battled and kept trailed just 27-24 at halftime. The Warriors built the lead to 44-36 after three quarters but Pe Ell charged back to obtain the victory.

Pe Ell (1-1) travels to Life Christian on Saturday for a P2BL game.
