Saturday's 2B Cross Country: Toledo’s Marty Finishes Fourth at District IV Championships

ONALASKA — Toledo’s Nicholas Marty finished in fourth place to punch his ticket to state at the District IV 2B Championships cross country race here on Saturday.

Marty completed the race in 15 minutes, 55 seconds. Ilwaco’s Daniel Quintana won the race in 15:44.

Morton-White Pass’ Alex Brown earned a spot to state, finishing 15th in 17:14. Teammate Matt Cooper took 19th in 17:28.06, just barely ahead of Adna’s Aaron Aselton in 20th place in 17:28.16. Rainier’s Dylan Davis placed 25th in 17:36 and MWP’s Asher Sympson finished 27th in 17:43.

Mossyrock’s Christian Paz Tapia earned 28th in 17:48. Rainier’s Chase MacFarland and Ryan Doidge finished neck and neck in 29th and 30th place in 17:53.01 and 17:53.02, respectively.

Toledo’s Tyler Harris earned 31st place in 17:53 and Onalaska’s Lethon Fitch was the final local individual to earn a spot in the state meet, taking 34th place in 17:57.

MWP finished third with 136 points to qualify as a team for the state meet. Northwest Christian (Lacey) won the boys team title.



In the girls race, Rainier’s Selena Niemi finished fourth in 19:37. Life Christian’s Gabby Martin won the race in 17:32.

MWP’s Olyvia Brownell finished 17th in 21:15 and teammate Ayricka Hughes took 18th in 21:17. Alissa Hughes finished 20th in 21:26.

Rainier’s Hazel Busic finished 28th in 21:48 and Clara Wagner snagged the final individual ticket to state in 35th place with a time of 22:22.

Rainier finished fifth as a team and will take seven runners to the state tournament. Pope John Paul II won the girls team title.

All the qualified runners will complete their season next Saturday at the WIAA 1B/2B Cross Country Championships at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
