Prep Boys Soccer: W.F. West Eliminated from Postseason in Loss to Aberdeen

The Bearcats failed to advance to the 2A District 4 tournament after losing to Aberdeen 5-0 in the play-in game in Chehalis on Tuesday.

Aberdeen led 1-0 at halftime, but the Bobcats scored two quick goals back-to-back to open the second half.

“We played hard and never gave up, just made some mental mistakes,” W.F. West coach Tino Sanchez said. “But the kids had fun and stuck together. They’re already excited for next season.”

The Bobcats move on to the District 4 2A Boys Soccer Tournament, which begins May 7. W.F. West finishes the season with a 3-12-1 record.

Torres Scores Twice in Rochester’s Win Over Tenino

TENINO — Jesus Torres scored two of Rochester’s three second-half goals as the Warriors broke open a scoreless game to defeat Tenino 3-1 in Evergreen 2A/1A League action here Tuesday.



Torres scored the first goal of the game in the 50th minute after the first half ended 0-0.

Bailey O’Neal levelled the game for Tenino on a free kick in the 53rd minute.

Julius Sword scored for Rochester in the 72nd minute, on an assist from Torres, as the Warriors regained the lead. Torres added an insurance marker in the 77th minute.

Rochester totalled 17 corner kicks in the game.

The Warriors are now 6-8, with a 6-6 record in the 2A/1A Evergreen League. They play their final game of the season on Thursday, at home against Forks.
