2A Golf: Tigers Edge Black Hills at Riverside

The Tigers slipped past Black Hills, 51-50, in a 2A Evergreen Conference dual match at Riverside Golf Course on Thursday, scored via the Stableford system.

Black Hills’ Elle Hirotaka shot a 23 to earn medalist honors. Hirotaka finished two points ahead of Centralia’s Julie Nettler.

Lydia Anderson scored 11 points for the Tigers. Lacey Duffy (7), Natalie Elwanger (6) and Tate-Madison Bell (6) rounded out Centralia’s scoring.

Centralia coach Larry Mollerstuen felt Bell’s performance was key in the win

“Tate-Madison had six points, and when you win by one that’s huge,” Mollerstuen said. “I was excited to see her gets some points and help us win a match.”

The Tigers host Tumwater at Riverside on Tuesday in another 2A Evergreen matchup. It will be Centralia’s final dual match of the season.

Noble Leads Bearcats Over Thunderbirds



TUMWATER—Carly Noble earned medalist honors for the fourth straight match, to lead the Bearcats to a 79-63 win over the Thunderbirds in 2A Evergreen Conference action at Tumwater Valley Golf Course on Thursday.

Noble shot a 27, scored via the Stableford system, for W.F. West.

“She’s just getting back to the point where she’s playing like she was at the end of last year,” W.F. West coach Bruce Thompson said. “This was a good performance for her.”

Kate Balmelli was next for the Bearcats, scoring a 17. Delaney Calkins shot a 14. Abbey Link (11), Emily Burton (10) and Haley Simmons (9) rounded out the W.F. West roster.

Annabelle Downs led Tumwater with an 18.

The Bearcats return to Tumwater Valley on May 4 for an away match versus Black Hills.
