Prep XC: Thornburg, Anderson Win Pirate Invite

ADNA — W.F. West's Terek Thornburg and Morton-White Pass' Kenzie Anderson claimed victories here Tuesday at the Pirate Invite cross-country meet.

Thornburg, a senior, won the varsity boys 5K race in 17 minutes, 28 seconds, beating out second-place runner Zak Miller (Rainier), who finished in 18:07.

Anderson won the varsity girls race by over 20 seconds, clocking in at 20:48 while Rainier's Elaina Hansen finished second in 21:13. W.F. West's Camille Ponyah was fourth (22:29), Mossyrock's Sarah Lovan was sixth (22:55), and W.F. West's Carlota Graff finished eighth (23:16).

The Bearcat girls team finished second, while MWP came in third and Mossyrock was fifth.



Mossyrock came out on top of the boys team scores, led by a fourth-place finish from Sean Johnson (18:26), a fifth-place finish from Levi Munoz (18:41), and a seventh-place finish from Jess White (18:49).

Adna freshman Austen Appersen led the hosts, finishing third in 18:15. Teammate Matt Meagher finished 10th in a personal-best 19:07, and Adna's Luke Wellander shaved 30 seconds off of his best time to finish in 20:35.

Adna will run at the Hoquiam Invite on Saturday, while Mossyrock will run in the Bill Kehoe Invitational at Saint Martin's University on Tuesday. Morton-White Pass will host its Fast and Flat race at Cascade Peaks campground on Thursday. W.F. West will run in Centralia on Wednesday in an Evergreen 2A Conference meet.
