TENINO — The Beavers put the clamps on Forks, notching a 51-19 Evergreen 2A/1A Division victory here on Monday. Kaylee Schow led Tenino with 12 points, while Felicia Grubbe added another 11 points.

“We had some buckets fall, there was some good rebounding and we were running plays hard,” Tenino coach Tano Bailon said. “It was good to see all things clicking.”

Forks scored just 3 points in the first quarter and trailed the Beavers 28-12 at halftime. Tenino went on a 17-2 run in the third quarter to ice the win.

Keilah Dowies came back from injury and put in 4 points for the Beavers, while Merissa Richardson had 9 points and Rhian Mathis added 7.

Tenino (2-12, 2-9 league) hosts Seton Catholic on Tuesday.

Tigers Adjust, Down 3A Kelso

KELSO — It wasn’t pretty in the first half, but the Tigers got the job done against nonleague 3A foe Kelso here on Monday. Centralia picked up the 47-35 victory — their eleventh of the season — behind 18 points and eight rebounds from Alyx Fast.

“It was a struggle in the first half when they came with their halfcourt trap,” Centralia coach Doug Ashmore said. “We had plenty of opportunities but just couldn’t hit anything.”

The Tigers were 6 of 20 in the first half, but led 7-3 after one quarter and 15-13 at halftime.

“We made some adjustments at halftime and the girls responded,” Ashmore said.

Centralia went on a 15-5 run in the third quarter and held on for the win. Both Madi Crews and Ellie Corwin added 12 points. Crews also had six assists and five rebounds. Corwin posted a double-double by adding 10 rebounds.

“Our bench is also doing a nice job contributing,” Ashmore said. “There’s no drop-off defensively and they do all the little things.”

Centralia (11-6, 1-2 league) plays at Evergreen 2A Conference foe Black Hills on Friday.
