Prep Baseball: WSBCA Announces All-State Baseball Teams

Posted

A handful of area ballplayers recently received honors from the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association when the congress of coaches released their 2019 All-State teams.

The 1B/2B ranks included Sawyer Burdick of Adna. The 1A team included Alex Bratton of Tenino. The 2A team included both Leandre Gaines and Brock Jones of W.F. West.

Curiously, Jones was selected for the team as an outfielder. Following his senior season in Chehalis, Jones was selected in the Major League Baseball draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks and he is currently in Arizona in order to get his professional career off the ground. Meanwhile, Gaines was selected for the team as an infielder and recently committed to Tacoma Community College for baseball following his senior year. Burdick was chosen for the 1B/2B team based on his accomplishments as both an outfielder and a pitcher while Bratton was selected for the 1A team due to his prowess as a power pitcher.

There were plenty of other familiar names on the WSBCA All-State teams as well.

The 2A team included Ethan Loveless of Black Hills, Xavier Ulrich and Nick Alder of Columbia River, as well as Brock Harrison, Kellen Bringhurst, and Spener Anderson of Ridgefield.

The 1A team included Evan Bates, Teegan Zillyett and Parker Plato of Montesano, Jackson Folkers and Payton Quintanilla of Hoquiam, Irving Alvarez and Tom Lambert of La Center, Brandon Connell of Stevenson, and Trenton Howard and Davis Koester of Columbia-White Salmon.

Lastly, the 1B/2B team included James Anderon and Luke Brown of Wahkiakum, along with Hayden Wilson of Kalama.
