TUMWATER — The I-5 Jeep Renegades started quickly with three runs in the top of the first, but couldn’t muster any more offense, losing 6-3 to Black Hills in AA Legion Baseball action here Thursday.

Austin Emery drove in two runs in the first on a triple, then scored the third run for Chehalis on a passed ball. Emery later had a double, finishing with two hits.

Bryce Dobyns started at pitcher for Chehalis and lasted until the sixth inning, when he was replaced by Brandon White.

Black Hills outhit the Renegades 9-5, and benefited from four Chehalis errors.

“The guys threw enough strikes, threw well enough to keep us in the game,” Renegades coach Cody Ray said. “But four errors didn’t help our pitching very much.”

Added Ray: “We couldn’t come up with any clutch hits.”

Black Hills are now 8-3 in league play. Chehalis plays its final league game on Wednesday at River Ridge.
