Monday's Prep Girls Tennis: W.F. West Takes Down Tumwater

TUMWATER — W.F. West had some tough matches against Tumwater here on Monday, but the Lady Bearcats were able to prevail 4-2 in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls tennis match.

W.F. West’s top singles player Sydney Cameron won her match 6-0, 6-2 and Joelle Chung prevailed in No. 2 singles over Tumwater’s Kailey Hickey, 6-2, 6-0.

The Lady Bearcats’ top doubles pair of Mya Davis and Megan Wilks fell to Sophia Koelsch and Abby Bond, 6-4, 7-5. W.F. West’s No. 2 doubles pair of Morgan Lakey and Jisu Han earned the win in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Ashley Werner and Tiana Jefferies had a tough match, but were able to win 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).

W.F. West is back on the courts on Tuesday, traveling to Aberdeen for an EvCo match.

Centralia Edges Black Hills



Centralia and Black Hills each won three matches in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls tennis match in Centrali on Monday, but the Tigers were able to earn the victory based on games, 52-46.

Centralia’s Ruth Hopkins won in straight sets in the top singles match, 6-4, 6-1. Angelica Vercoe won at No. 3 singles over Jacquie Pilon, 6-1, 6-1. McKenna Beason won over Centralia’s Gracie Wiley in the other singles match, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

In doubles, Rachel Wilkerson and Carissa Kaut won easily in the top doubles match, 6-1, 6-1. Brynna Rooklidge and Danika Jensen fell to Black Hills’ Ainsley Campbell and Emily Schade, 6-3, 6-0. Jordyn Bender and Anna Justice defeated Centralia’s Shannon Johnson and Monica Jimenez-Solano, 6-4, 6-1.

Centralia faces Black Hills again on Wednesday in Tumwater.
