Monday's Prep Girls Golf: W.F. West Swings Past Aberdeen

W.F. West’s Kate Balmelli scored 23 points to lead the Bearcats to an 81-70 win in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match at Newaukum Valley Golf Course on Monday.

Balmelli’s 23 points were good enough for second place behind Aberdeen’s MacKayla Waltee with 25 points. Abbey Link finished third with 20 points for the Bearcats.

Haley Simmons added 17 points, Rose Evans chipped in 11 points and Aeryn Elder scored 10 points. Elizabeth Twinning rounded out W.F. West with 8 points.

W.F. West is back on the course on Wednesday, playing at Riverside Golf Course against Rochester in an EvCo match.

Warriors Top Tiger Golfers



The Warriors and Tigers took advantage of a sunny day at Riverside Golf Course on Monday, with Rochester topping Centralia 30-10 in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match.

Allison Beagley and Alex Anderson each scored 7 points to lead Rochester and tie for match medalist honors.

Madi Watson led Centralia with 3 points.

“We’re getting better, and it was a nice day to be out there,” Centralia coach Hal Gronseth said. “The girls have enjoyed it more when the sun’s shining.”

Centralia faces Black Hills on Wednesday at Tumwater Valley Golf Course. Rochester hosts W.F. West, back at Riverside, on Wednesday.
