Monday's Girls Golf: Bearcats Leverage Law of Averages Over Aberdeen

With rain in their shoes and wind in their faces W.F. West managed to outshoot Aberdeen 46-33 in Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf action at Newaukum Valley Golf Course on Monday.

“Our team scores on a sunny day netted 30 points,” pointed out W.F. West coach Bruce Thompson. “Today was very wet and the girls reached 46.”

Thompson noted that all of the Bearcats golfers managed to stay within one point of their season average despite the suboptimal weather conditions.

Makenna Klovdahl, Laney Barker, and Aeryn Elder paced W.F. West with 10 points each. Elizabeth Twining added nine points for W.F. West and Emma Finley scored seven points.

“Laney Barker and our number seven player, Macy Gaudette, both began learning golf in the last week of February, hit their highest point total on this rainy day,” added Thompson.

Gaudette tallied four points on the day and Kat Torres scored five points but neither point total was counted in the final varsity score.

Aberdeen’s Ryder Heikkila took home individual medalist honors with a score of 18.

W.F. West will travel to Tumwater Valley on Wednesday to take on the Thunderbirds in an EvCo match.
