TUMWATER — W.F. West secured another conference victory here at Tumwater Lanes on Monday with an 18-1 win over the T-Bids in a 1A/2A Evergreen Conference girls bowling tilt.
The Bearcats dominated Tumwater in total pins as well with a score of 1873 to 1146. W.F. West was paced by Brianna Powe’s score of 194 in the first game while Kelsey Stritmatter and Ellie Bunker dropped in scores of 178 and 173, respectively. In the second game the Bearcats were slightly less overpowering but they still managed to outscore their flock of foes 708 to 469 in that round. Bunker bowled a 172 in the second game to lead W.F. West, while Powe turned in a score of 164 and Stritmatter managed a score of 139.
In the compilation scoring Baker Games the Bearcats were victorious by scores of 166-110 and 187-111.
“It was a solid game for the Bearcats. Leslie Erwin, who has been battling an injury came back and gave us some clutch marks that helped us run away with the first game,” noted W.F. West coach Donnie Bunker. “Our coaching staff has been very pleased with how we have been closing out matches in the Baker games. We’re are really improving with the Baker format games.”
W.F. West (6-1, 4-1) will travel to Montesano on Wednesday.
Black Hills Rolls Past Rochester
Black Hills had a strong showing but it wasn’t enough as Black Hills won 17-2 in a 1A/2A Evergreen League girls bowling match at Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Monday.
Rochester’s Zee Lowry led the way with games of 133 and 128. Thalia Phothisat rolled a 155 and a 101, Amerika Jones bowled a 104 and a 135 and Emily Holmes-Pickernell had a 74 and a 146. Kyra Darnell rounded out the Warriors with games of 111 and 99.
Black Hills best bowler was Mac Theophilius with a 194 and a 148.
The Wolves won both Baker Games, 170-105 and 135-114.
“Kyra Darnell stepped in for her first varsity match and set the tone to start each baker game,” Rochester coach Kevin Nealer said. “The girls are becoming more comfortable and are looking forward to facing each league team again to see if they can improve their overall scores.”
Rochester (2-5, 2-2) hosts Aberdeen at Fairway Lanes on Wednesday.
