Cougars Put the Cuffs on Cards

WINLOCK — Seton Catholic came into the Egg City on Monday and left the hometown Cardinals flustered on the way to a 58-23 non-league girls basketball victory.

The Cougars held Winlock below ten points in each frame, including a scoreless second quarter. For the game the Cardinals connected on just eight of 60 shots from the field and only five of 15 free throw attempts.

“We had 29 turnovers and they didn’t press us,” lamented Winlock coach Tori Nelson. “They penetrated and we couldn’t stop it. In the second quarter with us not scoring and they scored 19, it was ugly from start to finish.”

However, Winlock was able to best Seton Catholic 9-7 in the third quarter.

Addison Hall led all Winlock players with 10 points while Madison Lofberg scored eight points. Elizabeth Wolfe added two points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Winlock (2-3) will play at Toutle Lake on Wednesday in a non-league game.
