ONALASKA — Sawyer Burdick threw a no-hitter in the opener and Adna hit six home runs in a 10-0, 13-3 sweep of Onalaska here Monday in Central 2B League baseball action.

Burdick struck out nine and walked one in Game 1, and aided his own cause with a two-run homer.

“Sawyer was right on the money today,” Adna coach Jon Rooklidge said. “He was cruising along and kept the ball low and threw strikes, and they didn’t put the bat on him too well. It was a great effort for him.”

He had plenty of run support. Conner Weed went 2 for 3 with a pair of solo home runs, Elmer Loose went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Matthew Scheuber added a solo home run and Cole Fay went 2 for 3.

Miscues Cost Mossyrock Against Ducks

TOUTLE — A few too many errors cost Mossyrock here Monday in a pair of losses — 7-1 and 17-7 — against Toutle Lake in a Central 2B League baseball doubleheader.

The Vikings committed six miscues in Game 1, as starting pitcher Kord Senter struck out nine in five innings and allowed just one earned run.

“The difference in that game was making routine plays,” Mossyrock coach Jay Henderson said, “because Kord threw a way better game than the score indicated.”

The Vikings led Game 2 by a 7-6 margin going into the bottom of the fourth inning before Toutle Lake scored 10 unanswered runs.

J.C. Workman, Tryn Thompson and Evan Gootgeld each had two hits for Mossyrock, with Rem Stanley adding a three-run double in the fourth inning.

Mossyrock had four errors in the nightcap.

“We’ve just got to play better defense,” Henderson said. “The pitchers the first four innings threw well enough to have a decent lead. … Our top four pitchers threw a lot better than the score indicated.”

Henderson added that catcher Aaron King played well in a long day behind the plate.

Mossyrock (2-12, all league games) plays at Kalama on Friday or Saturday, depending on the weather.
