Monday's 2A Softball: Soderback’s Sacrifice Fly Pushes Rochester Past Aberdeen

ROCHESTER — Sarah Soderback hit a fly ball far enough to bring home the game winning run in the Warriors’ 2-1 win over Aberdeen in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball game here on Monday.

Delaney Glazer earned the win in the circle, allowing one run on six hits with no walks and one strikeout.

Glazer was 3 for 4 at the plate. Lexie Trombley was 2 for 4 with a double and Bella Phelps was also 2 for 4 with an RBI.

It was scoreless until the seventh inning when Aberdeen scored its only run, but Rochester answered in the bottom of the seventh to win the game.

“We played well. It’s one of those games where you know you played pretty well,” Rochester coach Dave Montgomery said. “Our last two opponents had some big innings, but we tightened that up.”

Rochester (6-4, 3-3 league) hosts Black Hills on Tuesday in a EvCo game.

Centralia Swings Through Black Hills



TUMWATER — Centralia totaled 12 hits and scored runs in five innings to earn a 12-5 win over Black Hills in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball game here Monday.

Courtney Spriggs was 3 for 4 with two runs, a walk and two RBIs and McKenna Smith was 2 for 4 with a double, a run and two RBIs.

Hannah Porter, Sophie Duffy and Courtney Leifer-Carlson each had two hits for the Tigers.

Duffy pitched all seven innings for the Tigers, allowing five runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Centralia scored twice in the fourth to break a 4-4 tie and pulled away to seal the win, adding four runs in the seventh.

“We traded blows off and on throughout the whole game and finally got those big hits in the seventh,” Centralia coach Mike McDonald said. “We cut down on the mistakes, hit the ball well and took advantage of what they gave us.”

Centralia (4-7, 3-4 league) hosts Aberdeen on Tuesday.
