Legion Baseball: Boites Throws Shutout as Renegades Top Olympia

OLYMPIA — Adrian Boites threw a complete game one-hitter, and the I-5 Jeep Renegades of Chehalis defeated Volkswagen of Olympia 10-0 in a mercy rule-shortened five innings in American Legion AA baseball here Wednesday.

At the plate, Boites had two hits with a triple for the Renegades, as did Austin Emery. Colby White also had a pair of hits for Chehalis. The Renegades scored seven runs in the fifth inning to end the game early.

“Boites was pretty dominant,” Chehalis coach Bryan Bullock said. “He was able to throw his off-speed for strikes.”

The Renegades will play Centralia Titus-Will at Bearcat Stadium in Chehalis on Friday.

 

Wollan, Steen Power Centralia to Win Over Vancouver 

Nole Wollan went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, helping Centralia Sobe/Toyota to a 9-3 win over the Vancouver Mavericks in an American Legion AAA matchup at Wheeler Field in Centralia Wednesday.

Centralia opened up a 3-0 lead after the first inning, but Vancouver came back to level the game with three in the top of the sixth before Sobe/Toyota responded with six runs in the bottom of the inning. Centralia retook the lead on an RBI single from left fielder Kolby Steen.

“It was huge how our guys answered back,” Centralia coach Jake LeDuc said. “The bottom of the lineup got us started. Kolby Steen had a big hit to put us back ahead. It was some good hitting that inning.”

Spencer Burdick pitched the first six innings for Centralia, with Jacob Cleary entering the game in the seventh in relief.

Brody Holcomb, Robbie Wall and Steen had two hits each for Sobe/Toyota.

Centralia’s next game is against NW Reign on June 14.

 

Rochester Tops Tenino 8-3

ROCHESTER — The Stampers scored seven runs in the bottom of the third inning to help Rochester earn an 8-3 win over Tenino in Legion Baseball action here on Wednesday.

Rochester started off the third inning with three straight walks, followed by a two RBI single from Bryce Lawler to take a 2-1 lead. With two outs in the inning, Rochester had four straight base hits to help bring home five more runs and secure the lead for good.

Chase Edminster pitched all seven innings for Rochester, throwing just 74 pitches while striking out five batters with no walks.



“Chase did extremely well,” Rochester coach Brad Quarnstrom said. “He was our starting catcher at the varsity level and he’s going to be a senior next year. I told him we need to have you throw this summer and he’s gotten opportunities.”

Rochester plays tomorrow at 6 p.m. on the road against Black Hills.

 

Rochester Falls to Hoquiam in Extras

HOQUIAM — Hoquiam scored on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn a 5-4 win in extra innings over Rochester here in Legion Baseball action on Tuesday.

Rochester scored first for a 1-0 lead, but Hoquiam took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 3-1 lead. The Stampers answered with three runs in the top of the fifth to retake the lead.

Hoquiam tied the game in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extra innings, eventually winning in the ninth.

“Overall it was a good game, we made some good plays,” Rochester coach Brad Quarnstrom said. “Curtis (Ebeling) had a no hitter through three innings.”

 

Centralia Downs Grays Harbor

An RBI triple by Spencer Burdick in the fourth inning gave Centralia Sobe/Toyota the lead, which it held for the duration in a 6-3 win over Grays Harbor on Tuesday in American Legion AAA action in at Wheeler Field.

Brody Holcomb was 2 for 3 with a run scored for Sobe/Toyota, and Tyler Pallas hit a two-run single in the second inning, as Centralia took an early 3-1 lead.

Christian Peters, Spencer Burdick and Jacob Cleary all took the mound for Sobe/Toyota, combining to give up four hits.

“Christian Peters threw well, and Cleary came in and closed the door,” Centralia coach Jake LeDuc said. “It was a good win over what I think will be a pretty good ball club.”

Grays Harbor starting pitcher Riley Olson made it a one-run game in the fifth inning with a sac fly, but Sobe/Toyota held on for the win.
