It took a while, but Titus Will got its bats going and swept River Ridge by scores of 12-7 and 13-3 in nonleague junior American Legion baseball action Wednesday at Ed Wheeler Field.

The Centralia team finished with 28 hits on the day against its old Evergreen 2A Conference foe.

“It was a rough start in the first game, as we didn’t play well defensively,” Titus Will coach Rex Ashmore said. “We found a way to battle back and take care of our mistakes.”

Titus Will, playing many of its younger kids in Game 1, trailed 9-1 after three and a half innings, but scored three runs in the fourth and sixth innings, sandwiched around a five-run fifth-inning rally.

Chase Evinger finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Jose Pineda was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Kolby Sharp had a three-run double in the fourth inning.

In the second game, Titus Will got going early and never let up in a five-inning victory. The Centralia squad had 17 hits in the game and a 10-2 lead after three innings.

“Our older kids were a little more comfortable with the pitching and it was just a good day to let everybody play a little bit,” Ashmore said.

Logan James was 2 for 3 with a double, triple and three RBIs, while Noah Thomas was 3 for 3 with two RBIs. Evinger added a 2 for 3 performance with a double and an RBI while Cody Parker added two hits and two RBIs.

Joey Aliff and Pineda also had two hits, with Pineda adding two RBIs.

Titus Will (11-7) is off until July 10.
