Friday's Track & Field: Pe Ell’s Schulz Wins Long Jump at Spudder Classic

RIDGEFIELD — Pe Ell’s Andrew Schulz earned the victory in the triple jump to lead a handful of local placers at the Spudder Classic Track meet here on Friday.

Schulz won the event with a jump of 20 feet, 9 inches. Kaleb McCalden finished second in the high jump (5-10). Bradley Prestegord placed third in the javelin (154-07) and Ryan Shepherd took bronze in the long jump (20-01) for the Trojans.

Pe Ell finished sixth as a team with 40 points. Washougal won the team title with 108 points.

Rochester’s Gerardo Sanchez-Carpio earned a second place finish in the 400 (51.56) and third in the 200 (22.94).



The Lady Vikings finished ninth as a team with 39 points. Washougal won the girls title with 84.5 points.

Sarah Lovan placed second in the 400 (1:05.03). Ava Nelson finished fourth in the javelin, Jamie Carlson finished fifth in the discus and Heather Edgar took fifth in the shot put.

Toledo’s Ally Bacon earned third place in the javelin (125-05) and the 4x100 relay team of Bacon, Alyssa Gaskill, Kal Schaplow and Abigail Rowe finished third in 53.05 seconds.

Pe Ell, Rochester and Toledo all compete in the Freshman Invitational on Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
