Friday's Prep Wrestling: Rochester Wrestlers Punch Ticket to Semifinals at Battle of the Border Tournament

BLAINE — Rochester had three wrestlers reach the semifinals here at the Battle of the Border wrestling tournament on Friday.

Riley Cohron earned his way to the semifinals at 145 pounds. After an opening round bye, Cohron defeated Lynden’s Edgar Antonio by pin in 2 minutes, 42 seconds. Cohron won by technical fall against Issaquah’s Henry Hess in the quarterfinals.

He will face Ferndale’s Thomas Broselle in the semifinals on Saturday.

Jayden Lancaster earned a trip to the semifinals at 152 pounds. He won his opening match by technical fall against Lake Stevens’ Isaiah Young before defeating North Thurston’s Tannar Lee by a majority decision. Lancaster earned another majority decision against Issaquah’s Declan Traecy in the quarterfinals.



Lancaster is set to face Blaine’s Jack Cheathram in the semifinals.

Elijah Spitzer was the third Warrior grappler to reach the semifinals at 285 pounds. He had an opening round bye before pinning Blaine’s Adrian Gonzalez in 15 seconds. He won by pin in the quarterfinals against Issaquah’s Richard Martin.

Spitzer will face Everett’s Derek Bryant in the semifinals.

The tournament will resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
