TUMWATER — W.F. West’s Kamy Dacus pitched a complete game and collected two hits to help the Bearcats earn an 11-4 win over Tumwater in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball game here on Friday.
The win moves the Bearcats into first place in the EvCo, each at 11-2 in league but W.F. West has the tiebreaker having won two out of three against the Thunderbirds in the season series.
Dacus struck out eight batters in the circle while going 2-for-4 at the plate.
“It was great seeing Kamy go in aggressive in the circle, love seeing that from a freshman,” W.F. West coach Caty Lieseke said. “She stuck to her gameplan well. She was fearless and aggressive in the way she approached the circle.”
Ava Fugate was 3-for-4 with a two run home run and Taylor Barker was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Paytton Crawford was 2-for-4 and Ellie Bunker was 2-for-5 for the Bearcats.
Tumwater took the first lead of the game with three runs in the second inning. W.F. West plated two runs in the third and a run in the fourth to tie the game before gaining the lead with three runs in the fifth inning. The Bearcats added five insurance runs in the sixth inning.
“We looked like we were playing our style of fastpitch. Everybody got their chances and took advantage of the shots they had,” Lieseke said.
W.F. West (16-2, 11-2) hosts Aberdeen on Tuesday on senior night.
Centralia Fends Off Aberdeen
Aberdeen scored seven runs in the final two innings but Centralia was able to hold off the Bobcats for a 15-13 win in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball game at Borst Park in Centralia on Friday.
The Tigers collected 19 hits, with Ella Orr going 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and a RBI and Sophie Duffy went 3-for-5 with three runs and a RBI.
Kylie Sharp was 3-for-4 with three runs and a RBI and Courtney Spriggs was 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs and four RBI. Hannah Porter was 3-for-4 with two runs and a RBI and Jadyn Hawley was 3-for-4 with two runs and a RBI.
Centralia scored two runs in the first inning and each team plated six runs in the second inning for an 8-6 Tiger lead after two innings.
The Tigers scored two runs in the fourth, four runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth for a 15-9 lead. Aberdeen scored four runs in the seventh but the Tigers held on for the victory.
Centralia (9-8, 6-7) hits the road on Tuesday to take on Black Hills in an EvCo contest.
Rochester Blanks Black Hills
ROCHESTER — Delaney Glazer got it done in the circle and at the plate to lead the Warriors to a 10-0 win in six innings in an Evergreen 2A Conference softball match here on Friday.
Glazer allowed three hits and one walk while striking out eight batters. She was also 2-for-4 at the plate.
Kiyah Kennedy was 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBI and Sadie Knutson was 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs. Lexie Trombley was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
The Warriors scored one run in the fourth to open the scoring and ended the game in the sixth inning with nine runs.
“We were a little spent form a hard game on Wednesday. We found a spark of energy late in the game and played pretty well. I was pleased with Delany’s performance in the circle and the defense behind her,” Rochester coach Dave Montgomery said. “Her curveball wasn’t working so well today but she has so many tricks in her bag. We did some other things, her rise ball was electric today. I was proud of Kiyah and Sadie coming alive in this game, it was a fun game.”
Rochester (8-9, 5-8) hosts Tumwater on Tuesday in a EvCo contest.
Jenna Jones Leads Winlock Past Naselle
NASELLE — Jenna Jones pitched a complete game for Winlock to lead the Cardinals to a 9-1 win over Naselle in a non-league softball game here on Friday.
Jones allowed three hits, one earned run and no walks while striking out 10 batters. She was also had a hit, a run and a RBI.
Cheleena Squibb was 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two runs, and five RBI and Makayla Allbritton was 2-for-4 with two runs.
Raychel Squibb was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and a RBI and Addison Hall was 2-for-4 with a RBI for the Cardinals.
Winlock opened the scoring with one run in the second inning before plating four runs in the third inning. The Cardinals added four more runs in the seventh inning to insure a victory.
Winlock (12-5, 8-5) hosts Rainier in a Central 2B League game on Tuesday.
Titans Roll Past Grizzlies
HOQUIAM — Pe Ell-Willapa Valley scored at least six runs in all three innings as the Titans won 20-2 over Hoquiam in a non-league softball game here on Friday.
PWV’s Olivia Matlock allowed three hits and struck out three batters in a complete game in the circle.
Katelyn McGough was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI and Kamryn Adkins was 3-for-4 with three RBI. Britney Patrick hit a grand slam in the third inning and Grace Hodel was 2-for-3 with a double.
The Titans scored six runs in each the first and second innings and plated eight runs in the third to end the game.
PWV (16-2, 12-0) will face another 1A opponent on Monday, traveling to Montesano to take on the Bulldogs.
Beaver Bats Go to Work on La Center
TENINO — Tenino’s bats came alive in a big way here Friday, pounding out 19 hits to drop La Center, 13-7, in non-league fastpitch action.
Freshman Emily Baxter led the way, going 3 for 3 with a triple and holding the Wildcats to six hits in a complete-game, eight-strikeout pitching effort.
Courtney Backman was 3 for 4 with a double, a triple and five RBIs, and Cassandra Cross went 3 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.
“The bats really came alive tonight,” Beaver coach Hayley Pearce said. “It was really fun to watch them run around the bases and get a little out of breath. We’ve been waiting for the offense to get going, and they really showed it today.”
Tenino (5-12) plays a doubleheader at Rainier on Saturday.
Loggers Start Slow, Fall to Ocosta
WESTPORT — Alex Cleveland-Barrera homered for the Loggers, but Ocosta’s nine-run second inning was more than enough offense in a 14-6 win here Friday in non-league softball action.
Onalaska trailed 10-1 going into the sixth, when it scored five runs.
“We were just kind of slow getting off the bus,” Logger coach Rich Teitzel said. “And it kind of stayed with us until the sixth inning.”
Chaise Cadwell went 2 for 3 for Onalaska, which had seven hits in the loss.
Kristi Raffelson homered for the Wildcats (11-7).
Onalaska (13-6, 11-2 Central 2B League) plays at Toutle Lake on Tuesday.
