Friday's 2B Track & Field: Adna’s Apperson, MWP’s Storey, Napavine’s Stewart Each Win Three at C2BL Championships

KALAMA — Adna’s Austen Apperson, Morton-White Pass’ Tristan Storey and Napavine’s Chloe Stewart each won three events here Friday afternoon at the Central 2B League championship track meet.

Apperson, a senior, won the 800 meters in 1 minute, 54.57 seconds, then won the 1600 in 4:49.59 and anchored the winning 4x400 team (3:30.04), running with Zander Blankenship, Jarod Keys and Brady Collins. The defending four-event state champion also finished third in the 3200.

Storey won the 100 (11.41) and the 200 (23.02), edging out Collins in both races. He also anchored the winning 4x100 squad (44.15), with Manuel Martinez, Kaleb Rashoff and Jesse Urban.

Napavine’s Draven Riddle won the long jump (21-0.5) and the triple jump (42-06.5), with Tiger freshman Keith Olson winning the shot put (44-08.5).

Winlock’s Bryce Cline won the high jump at an even 6 feet.

On the girls side, Stewart won the long jump by over a foot at a personal-record 16 feet, 11 inches, and added wins in the 110 hurdles (17.09) and the 300 hurdles (49.04).

Toledo’s Kal Schaplow won the javelin by nearly 20 feet (124-10) and Onalaska’s Carmen Cleveland-Barrera won the shot put (36 feet).

Kalama won the boys team meet, with 138 points to top runner-up Adna (107). Rainier won the girls meet, also with 138 points. Adna finished third and Napavine was fourth.

The top placers move on to District 4 championship meet on Friday, May 17, at W.F. West’s Bearcat Stadium in Chehalis.



Pe Ell Boys Finish Third at Pacific 2B League Championships

RAYMOND — The Pe Ell boys placed third as a team at the Pacific 2B League track & field championships here on Friday.

Dana Isham earned a win for the Trojans in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 1.75 inches. He finished second in the triple jump (42-2.75).

Jeremiah Yost won the shot put (45-11) and the discus (138-10). Yost also finished third in the javelin (138-10).

Braeden McAllister earned second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.34 seconds and took third in the 300 meter hurdles (42.98).

Kayden Miller finished third in the shot put (39-04.50) and Mason Baldwin placed fifth in the javelin (126-03) to earn a spot in the district meet.

Northwest Christian won the boys team title and Ilwaco finished second.

The top placers advance to the District 4 championship meet on Friday, May 17, at Bearcat Stadium in Chehalis.
